Last Friday, at a Star Wars Celebration Europe event in London, Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) launched their latest Star Wars themed jet: C3PO. In a deal signed with Disney, one of their 777-200s will carry the bright gold C3PO colours for five years from March 2017. The plane will operate on domestic routes across Japan.

The plane’s interior will reportedly duplicate the theme with seat headrests mimicking the golden droid. Contrary to rumour, C3PO robots will not be serving the drinks on board.  This video was launched with the announcement. Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, it is amazing to watch.

The

ANA has three other Star Wars themed planes, (two of which you can see in the video):

  2. A 777 decorated with the newest Star Wars Robot BB-8 which began its international service in April, 2016 Screen Shot 2017-05-01 at 11.46.33 pm
  3. Operating on domestic Japan flights is a 767-300 aircraft decorated in a general Star Wars theme with R2D2 on one side and BB-8 on the other.Screen Shot 2017-05-01 at 11.53.25 pm

Hopefully, they do not get involved with  the Galactic Imperial Fleet.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) was founded in 1952 and now has a fleet of over 200 planes flying to over 80 domestic and international destinations. ANA was the launch customer for the 787 and is one of the largest purchasers of the plane.  They are a five star airline, according to Skytrax. I have not yet flown them.  I am aiming to do so in 2017-maybe on one of these planes! Have you flown any of these Star War themed planes?
