The new Superman Ultimate Flight roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California., stopped mid air on Sunday, July 29.
Twelve patrons were left up at the highest point of the for almost two hours. The park provided them with water via a crane. A technician managed to reverse the ride and the cars were lowered to the ground.
The cause of the stoppage remains unknown. A spokesperson said “it was not mechanical”. Egads – what was it then? At least they were not upside down. The ride was shut down during investigation. Until then it had been drawing 4000 riders every day. Wonder who needed the lavatory. Always go before you ride!
