Booted for phone use

Following on the proud tradition set by Alec Baldwin in 2011  who was infamously thrown off one an American flight after refusing to turn off his phone and becoming combative with flight staff…

Two incidents in two months involving passengers being kicked off planes for cell phone usage. The first was a 22 year old woman who fought airline staff as they removed her from US Airways flight 906 scheduled to fly between Fort Lauderdale, FL to Charlotte, NC. She reportedly “kicked a deputy in the groin, elbowed another in the face and scratched two other deputies”.

Lindsay Bien-aime was travelling with her young son. She allegedly refused multiple crew requests to switch off her mobile. When authorities attempted to take her off the plane at 636am, they were met with expletives and violence. She has been charged with assault and the flight was delayed 25 minutes as a result of the incident.

Of course, The whole thing was captured on another passenger’s camera. I wonder if they switched off their electronics when requested! Clearly not! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4Yv7M0TnrE&sns=em

You can hear Lindsay’s own kid in the video saying, “Mommy, I’m scared” She was also recorded saying: “He knows that I cuss. People cuss in the world. He knows the real world. It’s okay. It’s okay, don’t hide your children from the world. It’s okay. People get arrested, people get arrested, people do sh**. So what’s your problem?”

There has been some discussion about allowing mobile phone usage during take off and landing but there is still a fear that a combination of multiple electronic devices may cause a disaster.

If asked, better to say “okay”. If nothing else, you may prevent my flight being delayed while the airline removes you!

  1. Why is it that we forget that some people are just “special” and don’t have to follow the rules like everyone else?

  2. Why is it we forget that some rules are just stupid and wrapping things up in safety are just an uninspected invasion of civil liberties and should be stamped on from a great height.

  3. Throw them off………that’s why I take a zapper out to restaurants with me…….if they are rude enough to use it in close quarters I just shut down their signal…….and if it’s an emergency Dr then your feet should be moving you out the door and away from other guests enjoying space……..
