Hishammuddin Hussein, Malaysia’s defence and acting transport minister at a media conference this Monday evening (Malaysian time) said 26 countries are now involved in the search for the plane (up from 25 this morning and 14 yesterday).
The countries are Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkmenistan, UAE, UK, US, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
It was revealed today that the Malaysian government have involved the FBI and Interpol from day one,
French investigators who worked on the crash of Air France’s Flight 447 in 2009 have arrived in Malaysia to assist with the investigation.
In the last 48 hours the operation has focused on “diplomatic, technical and logistical” issues.
The Malaysian police have searched the houses of both pilots. They removed a flight simulator that the aeroplane’s pilot had built to mimic that of the Boeing 777. They are also investigating a flight engineer who was among the passengers on the missing aero plane as they focus on anyone on board who had technical flying knowledge.
Still no sign of the plane.

make that 27! Taiwan is also a country, not part of China. Please get your facts straight.
Is your comment re 26 countries addressed to me or Hishammuddin Hussein, Malaysia’s defence and acting transport minister? The number of countries is the figure released by the Malaysian government. Cannot get my facts straighter than that. I do not know what Taiwan’s assistance is. I have been to Taiwan and loved it.
