Despite being in commercial service for almost six years, it was only in the last six months that I finally got to fly on a 787. Now I have flown five flights with four airlines on both the 787-8 and 797-9. There are now 326 of the 787-8 and 186 of the 787-9 flying, an extraordinary delivery schedule since the first delivery. Royal Jordanian Welcomes First 787
Middle Eastern carrier Royal Jordanian received their first Boeing 787 last Wednesday evening. Named “Crown Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II“, the plane flew non stop from Seattle to Amman, a 13 hour flight. It is pictured below at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. Royal Jordanian is the second Middle Eastern airline to operate the 787, after Qatar. RJ will receive four more of the Dreamliners thus year giving them five by the end of the year. They will replace the airline’s currently A340 and A330 planes. With 24 business class seats and 246 seats in economy, the carrier will introduce the plane into regular service…

If you want to know where a Boeing 787 is at any moment, Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner Flight Tracker follows every 787 that is in the skies at any point of time. The tool uses Flight Aware to display information on a Google Earth background. If you have not used Google earth before, you will have to download some software, the first time. Following a two hour 787 test flight on Monday, Boeing announced: “We have a high degree of confidence in the technical solution we are testing right now with the Federal Aviation Administration. Further to my post last week, Boeing plans to conduct two flight tests of its revamped 787 battery system.The flights would depart from and return to Paine Field, the airport in Everett, Washington, where the 787 Dreamliner is made. One flight would collect data for its own usage. The data from the second flight would be submitted for FAA approval. The fire and smoke from the event were so intense that firefighters couldn’t see even a few inches in front of themselves when they entered the electronics bay containing the burning battery, the report said. A fire captain on the scene told investigators that the battery was “hissing loudly and liquid was flowing down the sides of the battery case” before it “exploded.” Those words taken from the interim report of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) into the January 7 JAL 787 fire released March 7, may have killed off Boeing’s chances to have the 787 in the air soon.
