Sniffer Dogs Marry

When we were kids, we enlisted all sorts of people into play weddings: the cat, teddy bears, dolls etc. Now someone has done it for real. This week, 2000 invitees and 20 police dogs attended a wedding ceremony for nine pairs of dogs, in the town of Kandy,  Sri Lanka. German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Labradors and Doberman took part in the wedding ceremony. The ceremony was intended to promote a programme to breed more sniffer dogs. This initiative was introduced with a aim to save foreign exchange of around Rs20 million [$US150 000] on importing high pedigree dogs from…

A Chinese zoo at the People’s Park in Luohe faced a dilemma when its most popular exhibit its African Lion was sent away to a breeding programme. The zoo hit on a novel idea of replacing the lion with a Tibetan mastiff, a large and hairy dog. The plan came unstuck when the “Lion” opened its mouth and instead of a regal roar began barking. > Other fake animals were uncovered at the zoo including a fake Golden jaguar: A dog in a wolf pen: two coypu rodents in a snake’s cage: Authorities in the…

Following on the proud tradition set by Alec Baldwin in 2011  who was infamously thrown off one an American flight after refusing to turn off his phone and becoming combative with flight staff… Two incidents in two months involving passengers being kicked off planes for cell phone usage. The first was a 22 year old woman who fought airline staff as they removed her from US Airways flight 906 scheduled to fly between Fort Lauderdale, FL to Charlotte, NC. She reportedly “kicked a deputy in the groin, elbowed another in the face and scratched two other deputies”.…

Last Thursday, 26 passengers, high school students and their teachers, spent most of a horror flight from Santiago vomiting and experiencing diarrhoea on a plane with eight available lavatories. The group had been on a pilgrimage to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil for World Youth Day to see Pope Francis. The airline believes the students were sick before boarding. An anchor for Bay Area KTVU-TV read some supposed names of Pilots involved in the Asiana crash landing at San Francisco on July 7th. The four names were claimed to be: Captain Sum Ting Wong (something wrong) Wi Tu Lo (We too low Ho Lee Fuk (Holy F***) Ban Ding Ow The station after a short break corrected the “mistake” but by then the Broadcast had spread across the Internet. Here is a deal for you! When Mr Agius of Melbourne, Australia got a letter from the National Australia Bank (NAB) in January, offering him 100 additional points for each eligible purchase made on a NAB Qantas credit card, he went into action. He made 7000 purchases of one cent each – mostly between January 6 and January 9. Most of the purchases were used to top up his CityLink Tollway pass. For the bank had made a fatal error in that they didn’t specify how much you had to spend on each purchase to…

Samoa Air is in the news again. After launching their pay by weight fares, they are today introducing a special section for passengers weighing more than 130 kilograms (287 pounds). XL class for super-sized passengers will feature extra-wide rows and special ramps to help passengers reach their seats. The section is created by removing a row. Leg room is increased by 30 to 35 centimeters (12 to 14 inches) in the next row: “like a three-seat couch“, according to the airline. It makes sense for Samoa, which the World Health Organisation says, has one of…

Unicorn flies to Turkey

Excited about her vacation to Turkey, Emily Harris, from Wales made a toy passport for her design-a-bear unicorn named Lily. Her mother Nicky said  “The passport doesn’t even look real – it’s got gold teddy bears on the front and was a completely different size from mine and my husband, Allen’s… The picture ID …was of a pink unicorn” Despite this,  Nicky accidentally handed over the unicorn’s passport instead of Emily’s to Immigration officials who in turn stamped it , granting Lily the Unicorn access to Turkey.  Ironically, the Unicorn had been left at home. It was…
