Oil slicks indicate possible crash site
Vietnamese search planes have spotted two oil slicks in the crash site area, 140 kilometres (90miles) south of Tho Chu island off Southern Vietnam. The two oil slicks were each 10-15 kilometers long (six to ten miles) and about 500 meters apart. These could be from the jet engines. China‘s Xinhua state news agency are reporting that Malaysia Airlines 370 has crashed in southern Vietnam noting that : The aircraft did not enter airspace controlled by China and did not make contact with Chinese controllers. There has been earlier speculation that the aircraft had landed at Nanming. Malaysia Airlines were working to verify the authenticity of this report. It has been a relatively quiet year for plane crashes. On July 6, 2013, however, the Korean airline Asiana Airlines experienced a crash. Their flight 214 on approach to San Francisco International Airport from Seoul crashed after reportedly clipping a sea wall. The crash landing sheared off the plane’s landing gear and tore the tail off from the rest of the fuselage. It then burst into flames. After 43 years of flying I flew on my 777th flight. In a previous Blog post, I was trying to decide whether to fly my 777th on an Air New Zealand or V Australia 777.
